Get Smart: The Fashion, What It’s About, and How To’s…

Are you prepared to accept this reading challenge, agent 0? I hope so…do me proud. Get Smart, the new summer blockbuster in theatres now from Warner Bros, is a must see for all spy wannabes and fans of the original 60s sitcom! First, we are going to talk a little about the fashion from the movie; Steve Carell, a comedic god in my book, sported a classic tuxedo in one of the scenes and looked absolutely smashing in it (see my blog about revamping the tux!). If you’re trying to be a world-renowned spy, you need a classic look…that’s all there is to it! Throughout the rest of the film, he sported clean-cut suits. Perhaps he could have tried these tips to fit in a bit more?! The next thing on the check-list is to tell you all a bit about the movie itself. Maxwell Smart, later on known as Agent 86 after a pretty sweet promotion, teams up with Agent 99 (a little hot-a$$) to bring down Siegfried, the world’s largest enemy at the time. They travel to Russia to bring the hard-a$$ down, learning about each other along the way. Once they get closer relationship-wise, they also get closer to the Siegfried…I’m going to stop there, because frankly, it wouldn’t be fair if you haven’t seen it yet. The movie itself sports some pretty killer spy gear and some very entertaining action scenes. The last thing we’re going to cross off our list is some spy how to’s. Did you ever want to be a spy as a little kid? Well, I cannot gurantee my suggestions will work for you now but it’ll sure as heck be fun to try, no? First, you need a code name. Come up with something fun and unrecognizable. Secondly, you need to get a new look; don’t spend millions on a new wardrobe, but try to be thrifty. Head to some vinatge clothing stores and revamp your style. Maybe you can also change your hair colour and grow a ’stache. Hey, it can’t hurt. Some other things you may want to do in prep for spyification, is to learn how to read lips VERY well and pick up another language or two. You never know where you’ll be heading to once a mission comes your way or who you’ll be bringing down. One last tip: get close to no one! You mustn’t even get close to that special female in your life, even if she looks like Agent 99 (aka Barbara Feldon or Anne Hathaway). It may be pretty tempting, espically if she is dressed like this or this. Okay my spy-ready friends, go out in the world and make it a better place!
